Ex-Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist John Frusciante has launched a new project called Kimono Kult. According to Loudwire, the new outfit finds Frusciante teaming up with former At The Drive-In and Mars Volta guitarist Omar Rodriguez-Lopez. The two musicians have a long history together, with Frusciante contributing to five of the Mars Volta’s six studio albums and many of Rodriguez-Lopez’s solo efforts, while Rodriguez-Lopez has appeared on several of Frusciante’s solo sets. In addition to Frusciante and Rodriguez-Lopez, Kimono Kult consists of vocalist/guitarist Teri Gender Bender, guitarist Dante White-Aliano, bass/violin/trumpet player Laena Geronimo and multi-instrumentalist Nicole Turley, who happens to be Frusciante’s wife. The act's debut offering, Hiding In The Light, will be out digitally on March 4th and is described as "four songs of electro/dub/afro-beat/avant-freak/jazz-like conversations of instrumental ecstasy."
