WTF: Chicken Monument

A member of PETA (People For The Ethical Treatment of Animals) filed an application with the GDOT (Georgia Department of Transportation) to have a 10-foot tombstone placed at the place of a truck wreck that killed "dozens" of chickens. Three years ago, the GDOT began offering state-approved memorials at the sites of fatal wrecks for a $100 fee, but Sarah Segal thought she would file on the behalf of chickens lost during a truck wreck near US 129 near Gainesville on January 27th. PETA hopes that tombstone will "offer food for thought in the Poultry Capital of the World."
